Burr wanted to build his own territory in the southern part of the United States, so he headed west to raise an army to begin his conspiracy. Word spread shortly thereafter, and Jefferson was informed of Burr's plan. Jefferson sent a group to stop him, and in Richmond, Virginia, Burr was arrested and charged with treason. Then he will have to appear in court. Even though Jefferson should have won this case, he made personal attacks on the chief justice, John Marshal, throughout the trial. The jury found Burr not guilty and he returned to Europe. Jefferson should have won this game, but his stupidity got the better of him
