Congress has repeatedly sought to make it illegal for such actions to occur. It is shameful, in my opinion, that a citizen of the United States thinks he can treat his country's flag with such tasteless acts of treason. They took the First Amendment for granted. That flag doesn't just represent our country, it represents us as a people. It represents the lives that have been lost protecting us and protecting our rights. When someone desecrates the flag, they must realize that they are not just destroying a piece of fabric, but they are mocking the people who were selfless enough to give their lives for them. Defend the citizens of this country and the rights we believe in. The American flag will continue to be used as a sign of hope, freedom, equality and
