The illegal organ trade is a widespread form of organized crime, which consists of the illegal obtaining of internal organs and the trade for transplants. Victims are often forced or tricked into handing over their organs. According to the World Health Organization, the search for organs has increased worldwide due to the increase in diseases such as kidney disease; there are not enough kidneys available to save all patients. Therefore, illegal organ trafficking has increased significantly in recent years. For example, Sadi Ahmed, an Indian national, was held hostage for three months by an organ trafficking gang in Pakistan after being lured into what he thought was a business organization. Sadi explained that, like him, other victims were lured to Rawalpindi, a well-known city in Pakistan, in the hope of finding work. In fact, he said, “the gang was creating a paper trail to provide a cover story in court” (9). The victims were asked to undergo the test because the traffickers wanted him to give up his kidney for 300,000 rupees. After Ahmed said no to the traffickers, he said he was beaten and not allowed to leave until the trial was completed (9). Undeniably, this case clearly demonstrates the inequality and lack of humanity within today's society. There are millions of people like Sadi, who are tricked into being transported to a completely new country and then held hostage to have their organs harvested, against their will. All inclusive
