I am a woman born from fashion. Fashion has not only allowed me to be the strong woman I am today, but it is the only thing that drives me to excel. Fashion not only exists, it lives. The way you dress can interpret how a person feels, how their day went, or what lifestyle they live. I have always wanted to help women enhance their natural beauty. I also suffered from low self-esteem, but embracing who I was and my style gained confidence and drive in my life. This has been my passion since I was five years old and even today fashion is my biggest muse in life. Although I have faced obstacles in staying true to my style, dedication to succeed and learning from my mistakes have led me to this opportunity today. I have great potential within me and the Fashion Institute of Technology is the perfect place to broaden my knowledge and apply my skills to grow in the fashion industry. I want to fight to be the best with the best. My ambition has always been radiated by fashion. I remember that when I was four years old, fashion was a significant aspect of my life. Growing up I was quite introverted, but fashion gave me life. I would play dress up with my grandparents' clothes and costumes and do a catwalk. I started designing clothes at the age of five. My aunt and I would sit at the dining room table and create what we liked to call "princesses." I even remember naming my drawings after states and their capitals just to help me with geography. When my family realized my love for fashion, I gave them a sewing machine for Christmas. It was 2004 and I will never forget this Christmas. I immediately started learning to sew and make clothes for my Barbie dolls. I would do few... paper jobs in the fashion industry. My dream is to become a fashion event coordinator/producer and I would love to own a boutique that sells my line alongside other independent designer labels. I want to support the hard work of great designers who are not as traditional and renowned, but deserve credit for great craftsmanship and talent. I want to do what I love and I know that FIT will not only give me the well-rounded education I need to progress, but will also place me within a community diverse in cultures and talents that will give me the competitiveness, atmosphere and challenge of that I need to apply successfully. I'm a great candidate for FIT because I have no room for error. I have my eyes set on a goal and I plan to achieve it at a high stature. I would love to wear the FIT name and let the world know that FIT has helped me cultivate my career.
