The year was 1692 and I still remember it as if it were yesterday. The events that occurred were terrifying for me as I lived in horror not knowing whether I would live or die. “More than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft, the magic of the devil, and 20 were executed” (Blumberg). It all started the day my mother decided to take me to the market. We were desperately trying to get everything together for my birthday. I was looking forward to celebrating my 16th birthday, but I got more than I bargained for. “Hurry, we have to hurry. There's a lot to do. We must not waste another moment. Cordella! " My mother shouted. "I'm coming, Mommy, I'm coming!" I shouted back to my mother. She was right, there was a lot to do. My sixteenth birthday was fast approaching and I had a lot of things to plan. We had to go to the market and get some items we desperately needed. This dance would be very important. Not only was I 16, but it was also an opportunity for my father to choose a suitable husband for me. My mother and I arrived at the square of market with our carriage. My father was clear: I can have anything I want. I wouldn't say we were filthy rich, but we had money. My father was a well-known doctor from Salem, Massachusetts intimidating to them. Our family had the utmost respect in Salem. “Mom, what's going on?” I asked her as I watched the crowd gather. “Oh honey, those are the women accused of witchcraft,” said mother. “The one in the middle is Tituba. He also confessed to practicing witchcraft. Tituba along with Sarah Good and Sarah Osborne should be hanged for witchcraft. What a shame, oh well, hurry up now."
