Thomas More and Plato create their ideal utopia. A utopia is described as a perfect world. Thomas Moore and Plato have different mindsets when it comes to an individual's choice of occupation. Thomas Moore focuses on a utopia in which the workforce is strictly determined by the needs of society while Plato believes that each individual should perform the task that best suits his or her natural abilities. Thomas More's utopia has more of a community feel. People are forced to believe that the purpose of work is the public good. No matter what a person's status or rank is, he must learn the basics of agriculture during his childhood. As Thomas More recalls, “Every year this family returns to the city after having remained two years in the country and in their room there are twenty others sent from the city who can learn country work from those who have already had a year in the county”.
