Jorge Luis Borges has writing styles different from others of his time. Through his series of works he acquired the title of "the greatest living writer in the Spanish language". The particular example of work I read, titled “Ficciones,” was an accurate portrayal of his culture. The book was not simply a list of facts about his native country; instead the real cultural knowledge came from his writing style. The book consisted of two parts; each part was divided into stories. Each, despite being fiction, is a painting of his experiences and the cultures of Buenos Aires. Among his themes are the myths passed down through the families of his country. I thought the stories in this collection were very educational. When I finally took a minute to analyze and find a deeper meaning to the stories, I discovered that they all possess what he has known in his life. It is easily distinguishable in his works. Now that I have thoroughly clarified its uniqueness, it will be easier for me to explain my next opinion. I thought Jorge Luis Borges' writing style was extremely emotional. He possesses the ability to captivate his readers by fully utilizing the writing style known as irony. I discovered that irony is an important part of his works.
