This serves to deny any “unnatural” sexualization of the white body through routine, while emphasizing black performance. Twerking represents a type of black, female sexuality, which has its roots in colonization and was exploited in the Victorian era to justify the objectification of the black female body by creating it as intrinsically different. The black body became hypersexualized, animalistic, and representative of the inherent inferiority of the “other.” At the same time it also allows us to analyze the bodies of black women, unlike the white women who they are socialized as
