Have you ever wondered what effects abuse can have on a child? The effects that abuse can have on a child are very serious. Children can get serious problems due to child abuse. They may develop social problems, depression and anxiety. There are four types of abuse: physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect. Physical abuse can seriously hurt a child. Domestic violence is a worldwide problem and affects the health and well-being of those exposed to it. Children exposed to physical abuse are at risk of depression, social problems and learning difficulties. In clinical research, physical child abuse has been associated with an increased risk of symptoms of depression and anxiety (Schneider). Children who experience physical abuse often may abuse their own children. Children exposed to abuse often experience more than one type of abuse. More than half of the sample with SMI was identified as having one or more types of child abuse history (Choi). An abused child may experience hitting, kicking, biting, slapping, flinching, choking, burning, and suffocation. The results of these actions can cause bruises, cuts, bruises, burns, fractures, broken bones, internal injuries and even death. Although these injuries hurt, the pain lasts longer after the bruises and wounds have healed. The longer the physical abuse continues, the more severe the injuries. Chronic abuse can cause a variety of long-term effects. The age at which the abuse occurs influences the impact of injuries. The earlier abuse occurs, the more serious the damage. They are also subject to long-term effects and alterations.
