Why am I getting an MBA degree?I decided to get an MBA degree to further my managerial career in the company I work for. The question would be: why do I think it will improve my management career? The answer to this question requires brief background information. I started my career as an entry level programmer in 2000, after earning my degree in computer science. My career took a turn towards management in 2003, when I was offered a team leader position at the company I worked for. Since then, I have risen through the ranks to my current position as Manager, responsible for a subunit that manages a specific application product. After working as a manager for 2 years, managing both resources, budget and tasks for my subunit, I realized that my on-the-job training was not sufficient to handle the multitude of challenges I faced on a daily basis without an approach degree in economics. After much research, I have discovered that no other action can alter my career path or earning potential like acquiring an MBA degree. The MBA degree is one of the most sought-after advanced degrees in the business world today. Corporate demand for MBAs has increased in recent years and remains strong. According to the 2007 Corporate Recruiters Survey, conducted by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council), hiring companies plan to increase the number of new hires of business graduate students by 18% (GMAC, 2007). Projecting the overall increase in college hiring, Bizjournals.com says that at the master's level, MBA graduates will be the most in demand.
