There are many advantages to the death penalty. Some argue that there is a preventative effect on potential murderers, although there is much debate about this and almost every other argument for or against capital punishment. Another is the idea of inability. Honestly, why should anyone have the right to life if they took it away from another person? The reason why this writer supports capital punishment is because he observes the families of the victims and their pain for their murdered loved ones. This writer believes that anyone who kills should be put to death. One reason is that people should not have the right to live after killing another human being. The death penalty is a topic that deals with ethics, a set of moral principles or values. This issue is constantly filled with conflicting feelings and attitudes which the writer will attempt to present in the following paragraphs. The first argument is based on morality. You have an obligation to the families of the victims so that they can have a sense of closure. Unfortunately, the killer deprived the victim's family and friends of a loved one. Their pain begins with the murder. It may not end with the murderer's execution, but the execution elicits a feeling of relief in no longer having to think about the ordeal, a feeling that often does not manifest itself as the murderer continues to live. A system in place for the purpose of ensuring justice cannot do so for surviving victims unless the killer himself is put to death. The victim's family may feel traumatized knowing that the perpetrator is still alive. Even if the victim and her family cannot be restored to their pre-murder status, at least one execution puts people at risk front and center. Capitol punishment is an appropriate consequence for killing someone. Will life in prison guarantee that they will never kill again? No. Will a life sentence prevent a lawyer from finding a loophole to release them in public? No. Only the death penalty can guarantee this. It may not simply give victims families, but it's a start.
