In order for a child to experience the best education possible, a teacher must take into consideration the student's needs and abilities. Some students may face disabilities that may hinder their learning process. To provide these students with an excellent academic environment, it is critical that a teacher appropriately manage the student's disability. On the National Association of School Psychologists website, they provide resources where they provide teachers with information about bipolar disorder in secondary school students. On the NASP website, they define bipolar disorder and coexisting common disorders. In the textbook, Exceptional Lives, bipolar disorder is defined as a category of mood disorders in which the student experiences recurrent and extreme mood episodes, where the book defines these mood episodes in more detail.
