Topic > The Structural Analysis of the Play “Everyman”
This can be seen in all his falling actions as he seeks the help of the allegorical figures in his life. He begins by speaking confidently to the figures eagerly expecting that they will accompany him to ask for their help after many denials. Pride played an important role in Everyman's life and character. At the end of the show, he followed whatever guidance he wanted. He submitted to flagellation before the eyes of others, sought the guidance of a priest, and depended on others. This is the opposite of what the reader/viewer would expect at the beginning of the play, as Everyman began by trying to buy him out of his limits.
