CHAPTER 1INTRODUCTION1.1 BackgroundNowadays, the use of computers, mobile phones and other electronic devices is increasing. A study by technology market analysts ABI Research diagnosed that telematics usage in 2014 was 108.3 million users and will continue to increase to 117.8 million in 2019. In Indonesia this difference is very visible, where in 2011, according to a Nielson investigation, it was found that in Indonesia there were 180 million mobile phone users have now increased rapidly, reaching 236.8 million subscribers according to data obtained from the American intelligence agency CIA. This development can also be seen in the society where in the past only the rich and wealthy Indonesians used cell phones, while now almost all people have cell phones. This shows that the development of the use of mobile phones and other electronic media is very rapid and will continue to increase, where the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) even predicts that mobile phone users worldwide will exceed 7 billion in early 2014. Technological Developments and Rising Numbers Users of mobile phones and electronic devices are also certainly not exempt from the widespread use of environmentally unfriendly chemicals and electronic materials used to produce these electronic products. Then the disposal of waste from factories that produce electronic goods is also increasing and increasingly damaging the environment. Not to mention that the use of electronic products is changing and changing rapidly and consumers are also expected to continue to follow technological developments and continue...... middle of paper ......as explained above , I found Some of the benefits that can be achieved are as follows: 1. The public knows and understands more about what Green Computing is. The public understands e-waste and can take precautions in adding e-waste3. The public will know and understand how to implement Green Computing4. The public can better understand what can harm the environment and increase environmental awareness. 1.4 Research Methodology In this Advanced Topics report on Green Computing I conducted research using the library study research method, which is a method of collecting data and information that I obtained. from books and magazines containing data and information regarding the topic of this report, namely Green Computing and other related topics.
