However, when he remembered that the house was actually in Tennessee, he scared his cat into destroying them. The story does a great job describing the final scene and the plot revolving around the Misfit and an older woman who tried to convince him that he could be a good man. The crash scene describes the family walking out of an embankment with a road “three meters above them seeing only the treetops on the other side. “The woods that lined up behind them,” “like a dark open mouth,” and a description of three men looking down on them (Kirszner & Mandell, 2012, p.228). One in particular The Misfit describes as “an older man than the other two.” “His hair was just starting to turn gray and he wore silver-rimmed glasses that gave him a scholarly look” (Kirszner & Mandell,2012,p.228). He was described as a polite man even though he was holding a gun. He apologized for not wearing his shirt in front of women as if he wanted to be good. As the man with the gun stood in front of the grandmother she explained, “I know you're a good man deep down,” almost begging him to see him in person. As the older women and this man continue, it makes you wonder if she will give him comfort knowing he can still be a good man? Unfortunately, the story didn't have a fairytale ending, but it certainly left you wondering if this insightful woman could help a bad criminal be good once again leaving you on the edge of your seat (Kirszner &
