Doing well in school, going to college, and getting a well-paying job gives you good health coverage. Without healthcare, hospitals are less likely to care for people. The reason is because of their uncertainty about whether the uninsured will be able to afford to pay for the service on time or even at all. Obama says in his speech: “This time we want to talk about how the emergency room lines are full of whites, blacks and Hispanics who don't have healthcare; who alone do not have the power to overcome Washington's special interests, but who can address them if we do it together." Obama argues that because of political influences on hospitals, those without insurance are forced to wait until there is an opportunity to be treated. The reason they are uninsured is because they can't afford it. Because insurance is controlled by companies that don't provide fair rates to those who have medical conditions or don't have a job. Robert Pear, a New York Times writer, says: “From 2013 to 2014, the bureau said, the overall rate of insurance coverage increased for all racial groups and for Hispanics, who can be any race . The increases were comparable for blacks, Asians, and Hispanics (just over 4 percentage points) and smaller for non-Hispanic whites (about 2 percentage points).” Even though it has been 6 years since Obama's speech, it still shows that healthcare is still a problem in America
