They created an open community for members to expand on the project's main goal that instead of working on Netscape, the next browsers would begin to create a variety of browsers and tools to help improve the project. These new members helped Mozilla in many ways, but they were all very involved in creating free software that would allow people to use the Internet the way they wanted. After years of development, Mozilla 1.0, the largest version was released in 2002. Over 90% of Internet users at that time browsed with Internet Explorer.
