To improve gender diversity, Airbnb hired an educator to educate all employees on diversity issues such as “unconscious bias” (M. Singleton, 2015). A recent report from Airbnb showed that 43% of tech employees and 39% of leadership positions are held by women, which has made much progress in gender diversity compared to other companies Google and Microsoft which have only 17% women in technology roles. By successfully making these advancements, Airbnb has done a lot to attract more women. For example, Airbnb has partnered with many organizations that support women in the workplace such as Girls Who Code and sent employees to conferences to inspire the next generation. As a leader in the technology field, Airbnb certainly demonstrates that, through actions, companies have the opportunity to close the gender gap. In addition to Airbnb, Micah Singleton also mentions Intel as outliers in most companies. Intel recently announced that it would like to spend $300 million to improve diversity in the future, but we have yet to see the results
