The study shows that the effects of high cholesterol tend to develop over many years and are primarily due to a condition called atherosclerosis, which is the narrowing and hardening of the arteries . One solution to this aggravating problem is diet; a healthy and balanced diet. Most medical consultants recommend changes in patients' diet while taking medications, whether it is drug therapy or physical activity. However, if proper attention is not given, this condition can develop into diseases including angina, coronary heart disease, heart attack and stroke. Lowering your cholesterol level is the best way to prevent or control the effects of high blood cholesterol. By doing so, we can also reduce the risk of these diseases or even save the lives of those who suffer from them by following a proper diet. As the old cliché goes, early prevention is better than a lawsuit. A combination of a healthy and balanced diet would be great for reducing high cholesterol level. During the diet we need to get all the nutrients the body needs. Our goal is to provide variety in our diet, consume more grains, fruits and vegetables, reduce fat intake, reduce sugar intake and decrease salt intake. There are five basic food groups to become familiar with and which should be consumed differently but in the correct proportions. The first group consisting of bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, noodles and cereals contains high levels of fiber which reduces the amount of fat absorbed. The next group consists of fruits and vegetables; these foods are known to have a low level of fat. Regular physical activities tone our muscles and our bodies adapt to gentler exercises, meaning we can do things more easily. Keeping us physically active reduces the risk of disease and, when combined with a healthy, balanced diet, will make us lose weight faster. Diet and exercise are effective but natural ways to achieve a healthy body and an active lifestyle; with this we can enjoy the gift of life and its wonders.
