Hunger is one of the biggest problems facing the world today. In America, when we hear about hunger, we think of third world countries like Africa, without knowing that we Americans face that problem right here under our noses. A Place at the Table tries to show us how hunger goes unnoticed in America, and the movie “fed up” tries to show viewers how eating junk food has led to obesity and how obesity has caused more deaths than hunger . Both films show us how unhealthy food is consumed and why people consume the unhealthiest food. Fed Up is more persuasive, because it shows that people don't know what to put in their bodies and some people are just used to eating that way. Some Americans have no idea about the side effects of some food products. they consume in their body daily, and that is why this country is growing with obesity and high mortality rates due to sugar consumption. Young children are overweight due to lack of information. This movie is more convincing than A Place at the Table because some people are unaware of why they are simply gaining weight unnecessarily. Some of the kids interviewed were used to eating fattening foods, especially those from the South. A boy named Brady Kyle said he was bullied and called fat. He said he eats what his parents make for him and feels that because he is fat, he feels like he is failing. Fed Up is showing its audience that being obese doesn't just affect the health of young children. It also lowers their self-esteem and makes them socially unstable. According to the film, 2 out of 3 Americans are obese. The film aims to understand that some of us know we are obese and fat, but what are Americans doing about it? What is the American government doing to solve the obesity problem? The doctor ordered 12-year-old Maggie Valentine to see a nutritionist. His parents called and the doctors told them they don't see children his age. What this shows is that Americans complain about younger children being overweight for their age, but when we want to take action, we instead avoid this situation because we don't want to acknowledge that this is a big problem in this country. A Place at the Table shows how our government is concerned with the wrong areas of agriculture and food production in the United States, instead of focusing on the main problem which is hunger and the production of unhealthy food which leads to a lot of death, overweight, conditions respiratory, etc. Fed Up shows its viewers how quickly obesity has increased over the years and why obesity continues to grow in this country. Fed Up also states how the advertising made Americans feel like it was cheaper to eat unhealthy food. Americans don't know that it's cheaper to eat healthy food because of the message stored in their heads that fast food is cheaper. The film also states that some people are genetically predisposed to obesity, but this is no excuse to continue eating unhealthy food. It is also stated that obesity is considered the number one form of malnutrition in the United States
