During an interview, Covey was asked what he believed effective leadership looked like. Covey's response was, "My definition of leadership is communicating to people their value and potential so clearly that they are inspired to see it in themselves." (Covey, The Leader's Formula: The 4 Things That Make a Good Leader, 2007). Communication, inspiration, motivation, authenticity and honesty are all qualities of an effective leader that would help "inspire" followers to reach for the stars and achieve greatness in Covey's vision.
