It is easy to forget, but it is impossible to remove something from the mind. To our chagrin, we may see the effects of what we believed, even though we have refuted it and refuse to accept it; and yet there it was. The roots can be deep. This year's flower garden may yield some of last year's vegetables. Seeds can remain dormant until conditions are right. It may not surprise you that Jesus also had a parable on this topic. In the parable of the wheat and the tares, a field is sown with wheat; however, as the crop grows, so do the weeds. The weed in question (a tare) resembles wheat as they grow side by side. It is difficult to distinguish them, until harvest time. Even if we find it difficult to distinguish one from the other, we can see the results, or lack thereof. One bears good fruit, the other does not. This is the case for many weeds. They are able to grow alongside beneficial and desirable plants because they look alike, until one flowers and the other has nothing to show for itself. A negative result leads to nothing. The positive provides something. It is a mistake to try to judge what will happen. Just let them be, because ultimately the choice will be
