Remember the old coin-behind-the-ear magic trick? As a child you were so naive and believed almost everything adults told you. You were so fascinated by the magic trick that you were numb to notice that the coin had been hidden in their hands the entire time. Even though magic doesn't exist, you believed in it with all your heart because adults fooled you into thinking it did. The government and politicians perform this same magic trick on us; the general public on global warming. We are so accustomed to deception and deception that we can no longer distinguish between the truth and the lies we are constantly fed. There is clear evidence of global warming and the results of our actions, but the government uses this trick to distract us from authenticity. Just like a child, we accept pretty much everything the government says because of its authority. And for people who try to make us aware of the truth, such as scientists, we accuse them of being in denial and being unbelievers. Al Gore addresses this issue in an essay in Rolling Stone magazine published online. Although he believes that the media and government have the greatest influence and impact on global warming, he also believes that the general public should be more aware of the dilemma at hand. It expresses to the public the solutions to help solve this problem and what can be done to improve society in a "greener" way. For those who are not familiar with global warming, here is a brief summary about it and past events that have taken place on the topic of global warming. Climate change is a long-term change in weather measurements. The atmosphere consumes a natural source of "greenhouse gases". They capture the heat and hold the… middle of paper… we puke into the sky every day and will still be there in 20,000 years! (81)So the question you should ask yourself now is, “How can we as individuals bring about a change in society?” Step 1: Become a strong advocate for crisis resolution. Step 2: Step up your efforts by making smart consumer choices that will reduce energy consumption. Step 3: Join an organization specifically to take action on this issue. Step 4: Contact local newspapers and TV stations when they spread climate nonsense. And finally, Step 5: Don't give up on the political system. All of Gore's claims are valid and there is evidence to prove them. You will no longer succumb to the coin trick, but rather show them a trick of your own. How about, “Listen to us or you won’t get our votes.” It looks pretty good; gets them every time. Works Cited Climate of Denial by Al Gore
