The person I chose to interview is my daughter's sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Runyon. The reason I chose her is because she has been teaching for many years and came to this school with little skills in teaching technology as she was used to standing at the front of the class and teaching on a white/chalk board. She also had little computer skills in general, so it was a learning experience for her in every aspect. Runyon arrived in Vail in 2006 and already had integrated technology to assist in the teaching process. It took her some time to get up to speed on teaching with the help of technology. This was necessary since Vail Academy and High School is a technology-driven school. She was hesitant at first because she was new to this teaching style, but she found that it had more benefits for students than before. He was able to teach in a flipped format; meaning he would teach class using his computer on a smart board, so students could go home and see what had been done in class that day in case they missed something in their notes. When I was wondering if the use of technology has strengthened your effectiveness as a teacher and if you think it is beneficial to students you think it has strengthened your teaching ability and you also believe it is beneficial to students. She thinks this is because the children are able to follow along and it doesn't have to be written on the board for the children to copy it, they are able to listen and write some notes themselves instead of trying to copy everything she is writing on the blackboard. Yes and no. Yes, in the sense that students who understand the material are able to move forward and complete their work without having to wait for others... halfway through the paper... the view was good for Me. Even if I'm not good at doing interviews, I wanted to interview someone I knew, but since they were on fall break I had to wait until Friday for her to come back to town, I found it a little awkward to ask her to meet me while she was still on vacation but the I did and learned a lot. Then reading the articles I found and seeing all the studies that were done in so many different age groups was eye-opening. Being able to see the children's progress graphs she receives on her computer as the kids work is great because she can give them the help they need when they need it instead of waiting until a baseline test comes back bad vote . I think this type of teaching is so beneficial that I wish I had this advantage when I was younger, but I see myself implementing it into my learning in college.
