At the top of page 4 Mary finds her dining room empty but with a full meal just left there, Mary eats the meal because she was hungry and then he falls asleep for hours. In the passage I chose for the key it is right after she wakes up from her long sleep. The house is silent and everyone has left or died due to the cholera epidemic. Pages 4 and 5 really set the book up to show how poor Mary's physical well-being truly is. Up until this part of the book she has someone to do everything for her. Never doing anything for herself, she expects someone to do things for her, which makes her mean and ungrateful and prevents her from having physical well-being because she doesn't know it
