The states that don't require live fire training are the largest number, which scares me. Why? To be a responsible gun owner, you need to know how to use and store it properly. As I mentioned on page 4 for illustration, a responsible driver not only knows how to drive but also knows how to be a safe driver. Carrying or owning a gun without knowing how to shoot and use it can pose a danger to you and those around you. Likewise, the state that recognizes the permits of states that do not use firearms is almost as large as states that do not use live-fire training. This data shows how difficult it would be for law enforcement to identify people with criminal records from those who do not because people can acquire a permit from another state and move to another state. For this reason, should more gun control laws be enacted? Here are the pros and cons listed on Procon.org: More gun control laws would reduce gun deaths as pro-people argue while anti-people say gun control laws don't deter crime; Gun ownership discourages crime. According to John R. Lott, “States with the largest increases in gun ownership also have the largest declines in violent crime.” He points out that outlaws fear retaliation from victims who may own guns. Below is the graphic supporting Lott's statement that Mark J. Perry wrote about
