Topic > Arguments against foreign aid - 1156

$2.3 trillion, that's how much has been spent on foreign aid in four decades. This idea was born after the end of World War II to help war-ravaged countries rebuild. While this idea was acceptable at the time, the concept is becoming unreasonable and impractical as the current economy continues to destabilize. While this may be considered self-centered and harsh, America must be able to support all the people of its country before donating money to other countries. After 60 years of giving trillions of dollars to emerging countries, foreign aid must be stopped and spent to help America become more prosperous than before. Many people in the world argue that foreign aid is necessary for developing countries and should not be stopped being distributed. Dozens of people argue that foreign aid is vital to the survival of the world economy. However, American aid has gone to countries that do not contribute to global development and are usually unknown to the charitable donor. When you compare America's reasons for foreign aid to those of other powerful nations, they do not share America's views. To date, America's national debt stands at approximately $15 trillion, of which approximately $1 trillion is owed to China. Even as countries like China expect to be repaid in full, America continues to pile up its debt. With this, the purpose of foreign aid is impractical and brings no benefit to the American population in the long run. Another claim by Americans is that foreign aid to developing nations will benefit them and support the development of other superpowers. Simply put, this statement is false and foreign aid to fledgling nations only slows down their economy and increases poverty. The evidence is highlighted... in the center of the sheet... see. Furthermore, without foreign aid, the populations of developing countries will become self-sufficient and eliminate the need for external assistance. The reasons for donating money to a cause will always have a purpose. As everyone knows, nothing happens without an intention. Without even being able to support the poor in donor lands, public welfare must be prioritized and foreign aid should not even be considered. After all that the United States of America has done for other countries, it's time to step down from the plate. It is time for developing nations to take up their responsibilities and start becoming self-reliant. It is time for the American government to take the needs of its people into its own hands. It is time for the United States of America to eliminate poverty and hunger within its borders once and for all.
