Democratic is when citizens vote for all elected officials. Many had challenged the political system as it existed and worked to create a democratic system that would be beneficial to America as a whole. Andrew Jackson was one of those individuals who challenged the government's views and whose name is closely linked to democracy. This essay will focus on the aspects that made this president so great and how democratic he actually was. Unlike America's first six presidents, Andrew Jackson did not come from a wealthy family. In fact he was an average individual and was born into a very poor family, deprived of the basic things of life. At twenty-nine, he was first elected to the United States House of Representatives in Tennessee and a year earlier elected to the Senate. He served as president from 1829 to 1837 and was popular with the public, so prominent that votes were still in his favor even after his death. (Basic essay).
