Vice President and head of 15 separate departments: Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Justice (the Attorney general), labor, state, transportation, treasury and veterans. The President's Cabinet is made up of appointed officials who meet weekly to confer with and guide the President on current issues in their respective fields. The officials are personally chosen by the President. When the President has a person in mind for the position, he proposes a nomination, and the nomination is confirmed or denied by the United States Senate by a majority vote. The President has the power to remove an official at any time. A Cabinet member does not have to have experience in government; the President could technically choose to appoint a McDonald's cashier if that's what he wants
