The Han Dynasty of China and the Roman Empire were both civilizations that excelled in science and possessed advanced technology. Governments were a key part of these civilizations, guiding them into their future. The Roman Empire went through two main phases, the republic and the empire. The Han dynasty, however, was always an empire with an absolute ruler. During a time of peace in Rome, Christianity emerged and spread throughout Rome. Christianity gave Rome new beliefs, which allowed the Church to overwhelm previous rulers. In the Han Empire, however, Confucianism was the main belief. Confucianism was the idea of mutual relationships and achieving individual happiness. The Romans had superior engineering capabilities. They designed structures such as aqueducts and were advanced in the medical field. The Han Empire was less focused on engineering, but was expert in scientific fields such as chemistry and zoology. They invented better devices for tracking time with water and the like. The Han Empire had a stronger government and advanced more in the fields of science than the Roman Empire. However, Roman's Christian background was more powerful and exceptional than the Han's belief in Confucianism. Overall, the Hand dynasty had better governance than the Romans. The Roman Empire underwent many changes before officially becoming an empire with an absolute ruler. Before becoming an empire, it was a republic with consuls. Each year two consuls were elected from a group of patricians, men who made laws, to become consuls. These consuls sought to command the Roman armies and supervise government affairs. The Roman republic sought equality and justice. They engaged in an imperialist policy,...... middle of paper......in the Han golden age, there were tremendous achievements and progress in the fields of science. The Han Dynasty, without a doubt, advanced more in science than the Romans. Despite the differences between the Han and Roman Empire, both are still part of our society today. Rome's architecture and advanced engineering were developed to become even more efficient. The common religion in Rome is one of the major religions in modern cultures. Han also had the most intellectual governments of its time. Although becoming a civil servant was not as difficult as it was for the people of the Han Empire, civil servants must pass a civil service exam before they can become one. The Han Empire also created one of the many clocks that we can improve to make it more efficient. Overall, both of these empires brought about revolutionary changes that will stay with us for a long time.
