With over 350 million active users, Facebook is one of the most popular social networking sites in history. While it may have benefits such as connecting with friends, it could also have very negative effects that could be irreversible. Three major negative effects that could result from using Facebook include loss of sleep, depression, and putting yourself in a dangerous situation. At first glance, Facebook may be perceived as an intriguing and fun site, but the addictions that sometimes result from overuse are linked to fatal effects. These effects could be tiny, easy to manage, unhealthy, or life-changing. The first critical effect, distractions caused by addiction, is linked to sleep loss.
