Francis Wardle, (2003) explains that “we must find all ways to expand young children's worldview beyond the confines of the school or early childhood curriculum childhood. " (p.4) Young children should be able to become familiar with their community and the diversity around them. I will talk about community field trips at my October parents' meeting and then move on to our staff meeting on how to implement this too. I really liked the idea in the article "Diversity in Early Childhood Education", by Francis Wardle (2003), that "the preschooler can pair with a senior center and both can have fun painting, dancing and singing together." (p.6) I would also like to take my preschooler to the flea market to expose him to the variety of cultural products and foods they have available on a weekly basis. Community field trips are great to allow young children to view and learn about the diversity around them, which will create tolerance and acceptance of everyone as they are
