America in 1620-1700 or Colonial America is full of life and diversity due to the changes it slowly incorporated into their society with the European settlers who immigrated to the country and the governments who claim colonies in every part of the continent. Because of the variety of cultures that have mixed in the country, there have been many particular elements or legacies that have left a mark on the country and are continually visible in American culture today. This period is also considered the period of America's development as it is slowly grasping its legacy and discovering its ability to become one of the most recognized countries in the world and a superpower. But what are the many different elements of that period that remain dominant in American society today? This article would mention some of the elements from the 1620-1700 period that are still evident today. One of the most interesting elements or legacies of the 1620-1700 period is their concept of politics and order; also their concept of peace. This is clearly visible in the thirteen colonies as they introduced concepts such as voting, civil rights, and social understanding with their fellow colonists and Native Americans. They have also introduced rules and regulations regarding their territories and activities both locally and internationally. A new government was also formulated by several English colonists with their Native American counterparts due to the lack of consistency from the English government over the colonies and the country. The colonists also had a tradition of seeking political freedom and not just religious freedom. They began to understand America's important ideals and interests, which is very different from what... middle of paper... Usually, some medical procedures when a doctor is not present, such as bloodletting, were usually left to barbers or amateurs who then add to the problem of mortality in colonial times. Despite this, there have been many types of medicines such as Indian medicine and herbal medicines that are still distributed and seen today. For the colonial period, the variety of medicine was not surprising considering the colonies present in the country before the Revolution. (Elson) Without the contributions and legacy of the American colonial period, the United States of America would not be the same as what people see today. There may be chances that the United States' beliefs in liberty, freedom, democracy and peace are not as pronounced and upheld by its people and legislation. The country would also have been a normal Western country.
