My first big writing experience was in AP World History my sophomore year. In this course we had to write a lot of history essays and we only had a limited amount of time to do it. During that course he helped me become a better writer because if I wanted to get a good grade, I had to become more skilled when I wrote and use the right details and resources. Learning to be more proficient at writing prepared me for college English, because if I take too long to write a paper I will fall behind in my coursework and be late for deadlines. Also, in my second year I took the English class where we learned how to write mel-con paragraphs, which really helped me put the right sources in my essays and document them properly. In both of these lessons I had to use quotes or evidence from other sources. As a result, they helped me learn how to use the right documentation, whether paraphrasing or citing, and taught me how to properly cite my sources. Learning how to use quotation marks correctly and cite them correctly has prepared me for college English and my future courses because it will give me a more credible edge in my future essays. Learning how to do this will also help me avoid plagiarizing the work of others. These teachers and courses have helped me a lot to get to where I am today and prepare myself
