His father died when he was five and his mother placed him in an orphanage. In this orphanage he was beaten regularly and was exposed to many very sadistic acts of brutality. He was beaten so regularly that he began to crave the abuse for the pleasure it brought him. During his time at the orphanage, Fish saw and experienced many acts of perversion such as forced masturbation in front of other children and brutal beatings. Say no to plagiarism. He said: “I was there until I was almost nine, and that's where I started wrong. We were whipped mercilessly. I've seen guys do a lot of things they shouldn't have done." In 1880, his mother removed him from the orphanage. He had very little education and grew up learning to use his hands to do his work and not his brain. Soon after returning home with his mother, Albert began a relationship with another boy who introduced him to things like drinking urine and eating feces. He began frequenting public baths so he could watch other boys undress and spent most of his weekends on these visits. In 1890 he moved to New York and began his crimes against children. She started prostituting herself and started raping boys. His mother arranged for him to marry Anna Hoffman who was 9 years younger than Albert in 1898. He had six children with Anna. The children lived normally until 1917, after Fish's wife ran away with another man. Soon after their mother's escape, the children said Fish asked them to participate in his masochistic games. In 1898 he worked as a house painter. He continued to molest boys under the age of six. In 1910, while working in Delaware, she met a 19-year-old man named Thomas Kedden. They began a sadomasochistic relationship. Fish later confessed that the man was intellectually disabled. He took Kedden to an old farm. He then started torturing him. He tortured him for two weeks. After a while, FIsh tied up Kedden and cut off half of his penis. “I will never forget his cry, or the look he gave me,” Fish later said. He originally intended to kill Kedden, cut up his body and take him home. Fish, however, poured peroxide on the wound, wrapped it in a Vaseline-covered handkerchief, left a $10 bill, kissed Kedden goodbye, and left. In 1917 Fish began to self-harm. He began sticking needles into his groin and abdomen. After he was arrested, an x-ray revealed Fish had at least 29 needles stuck in his pelvic region. He constantly hit himself with a paddle studded with nails and stuffed wool soaked in lighter fluid into his anus and set it on fire. He never attacked or physically abused his children, but encouraged them and their friends to paddle him with the same nail-studded paddle he used on himself. He eventually developed a growing obsession with cannibalism, often eating a dinner consisting only of raw meat and sometimes giving it to his children. Fish began to choose mentally handicapped or African-American people as his victims, rationalizing that these people would not be missed if killed. On May 25, 1928, Fish saw an advertisement that read: “A young man of 18 desires a position in the country. Edward Budd, 406 West 15th Street." Three days later, Fish, then 58, visited the Budd household acting as if he was about to hire Edward. Fish later confessed that he planned to tie up Edward, mutilate him and leave him to bleed out. He introduced himself as Frank Howard and promised to hire Budd and his friend Willie, and said he would come get them in a few days. He did not show up, but apologized and set a later date. When Fish returned, he met Grace Budd Apparently changed his victim from Edward Budd to Grace Budd and then made up a story about having to attend his niece's birthday party. He convinced the parents to let Grace go with him to the party went with Fish that day but returned. On September 5, 1930 the police arrested as a suspect the 66-year-old superintendent Charles Edward Pope, accused by his ex-wife. Between his arrest and the trial on December 22, 1930 had to pass 108 days in prison, where he was later found not guilty. In November 1934, Fish wrote an anonymous letter that was sent to the girl's parents which eventually led the police to Fish. The police investigated the letter. There was a part of the letter regarding the murder of Grace Budd and it turned out to be accurate about the kidnapping, although it was impossible to confirm whether or not Fish ate parts of Grace's body. The letter was delivered in an envelope containing letters from "NYPCBA" representing the "New York Private Chauffeur's Benevolent Association". A custodian at the business told police he took some of the stationery home but left it at his house when he moved. The landlady of that house said that Fish had left that room a few days earlier and that Fish's son had sent him money, and he had asked her to withhold his next check. William King, who was the lead investigator on the case, waited outside the room for Fish. Fish agreed to go to headquarters to ask questions, but then pulled out a razor blade. King disarmed Fish and took him to police headquarters. Fish did not attempt to deny killing Grace Budd, but said he intended to go kill Edward Budd instead. Fish said he never intended to rape Grace, but later admitted to his lawyer that, as he knelt on Grace's chest and strangled her, he had two involuntary ejaculations. This information was used during the trial to claim that the kidnapping was sexually motivated, so it avoided any mention of cannibalism. The trial for the murder of Grace Budd began on March 11, 1935 in New York. The trial lasted 10 days. Fish declared himself insane and said he heard voices from God telling him to kill the children. Several psychiatrists testified about Fish's sexual fetishes, which included sadism, masochism, flagellation, pedophilia, cunnilingus, anilingus, fellatio, piquerism, exhibitionism, voyeurism, cannibalism, coprophilia, urophilia, and infibulation. It was noted that Fish was a "psychiatric phenomenon". and that no one in the medical records has ever possessed so many sexual anomalies. No one doubted that Fish was crazy, but they felt he should still be executed. He was found sane and guilty, but the judge ordered the death sentence. He went to prison in March 1935 and was executed on 16 January 1936 by electric chair at Sing Sing Prison. He was buried in Sing Sing Prison Cemetery. Fish was said to have helped the executioner place electrodes on his body. Reportedly his last wordswere, "I don't even know why I'm here." According to a witness present, it took two jolts before Fish died. This created a rumor that the apparatus had been short-circuited due to the needles that Fish had stuck in his body. Fish's attorney, James Dempsey, said he had his client's final statement following his execution. Fish wrote his final statement hours before his death. Dempsey refused to let anyone see his final statement and said: “I will never show it to anyone. It was the dirtiest series of obscenities I have ever read.” Application of social process theory toAlbert Fish and his crimesAlbert Fish was sent to an orphanage at an early age, this orphanage led him to be violent. Albert was a very violent serial killer, he molested over 400 children. Many of the children he molested were tortured, killed and even eaten. His most notorious crime is the murder of Grace Budd. Albert killed Grace, chopped her up and ate her over the course of 9 days. Once people learned about the crimes that were happening, they became afraid to let their children go anywhere, and everyone feared that they might be his next victim. Albert was eventually caught and tried, was found guilty, and was eventually put to death by electrocution. Social process theory can be about Albert Fish and why he committed those crimes. Albert Fish was born on May 19, 1870, into a family with a history of mental illness. At the age of 5 Albert was sent to an orphanage, in this orphanage they were beaten for misbehavior, while in this orphanage he became more sadistic. Once he was 10 years old, his mother took care of him. A few years later he met this telegraph boy who introduced him to sexual activity with other males and the consumption of human waste. Once mature he became a prostitute and began to rape boys. His first marriage was in 1890, he and his wife had 6 children. When he was in his 40s his first incarceration occurred, for sexually assaulting a mentally disabled man. Shortly after this happened, his wife left him and he began self-harming and having auditory hallucinations. Once at age 54 he claimed that God was telling him to hurt/kill and sexually assault young boys. Albert Fish suffered from psychosis, every time he found a victim his goal was to molest, kill and eat them. Albert Fish molested more than 400 children, tortured, killed and ate many of those 400 children. Although Albert Fish is known for being a child molester and serial killer, his most notorious crime is the murder of Grace Budd. Grace wasn't his intended target, his brother was, but one Sunday he took Grace to his house. Albert Fish hid naked upstairs, so as not to get blood on his clothes. He went to get her, then stripped her naked, smothered her to death, cut her into small pieces, and cooked and ate her body in 9 days. Most of Albert Fish's murders were just as gruesome as Grace's murder. Once captured and tried for his murders, he was found guilty and executed by electrocution. The reaction society had to his crimes was that everyone was terrified of leaving their homes. People couldn't believe that someone could do something like that to children, and parents were afraid for their children. Albert Fish didn't seem to be too concerned about his crimes as he said he felt God was telling him to do this to children. Please note: this is just an example.
