Identifying yourself and recognizing who you are can be the greatest obstacle an individual can face. Furthermore, extraversion behaviors show a higher motivational trait which is very important for managers. Assertive individuals have also been shown to be more effective leaders than less assertive leaders (Minbashian et al., 2009). This research shows that in my future career as a marketing manager, I would be able to establish positive relationships with others and could be an effective leader to my subordinates. Working in the marketing field forces us to face many situations where communication and trust are the key to success. Because I have low agreeableness, I am described as very stubborn, angry, and critical. This means that I need to improve this weakness to become a successful marketing manager. In order to improve my weakness, I need to create a development plan. My plan is to attend relaxation, mindfulness, or yoga classes for a year to open my mind to other opinions, improve engagement, and control my anger. Furthermore, a behavioral example to improve agreeableness is listening. When conversing with others, I should first listen to others' opinions on a topic. This would help me understand other people's point of view on the topic. Then, by sharing my point of view, there would be no conflicts and an understanding would be created. By not listening to others, I am creating unnecessary arguments that would not have arisen if both sides were clearly stated. Furthermore, I need to understand that by improving agreeableness, relationships will also improve. To do this I need to have a softer tone when speaking to others.
