Weapons in the workplace have been a legal issue in business for years. Many liability issues have arisen regarding workers' rights and workplace safety. Laws have been passed at the state and federal levels that will allow U.S. citizens to carry concealed weapons, once they receive a concealed weapons permit. However, several companies do not allow their employees to carry weapons, whether in offices, on their person, or in vehicles. The purpose of this document is to examine laws and regulations that do not allow and permit employees to bring guns to work. I will also examine the pros and cons of allowing employees to carry concealed weapons in the workplace. In order to see how some companies are implementing their rules and regulations for carrying concealed weapons in the workplace, I obtained a weapons policy from a local company. Concealed Weapons in the Workplace In the United States, many states have passed laws allowing their citizens to carry concealed weapons. Policies for obtaining the necessary concealed weapons permits vary from state to state, and some of these policies are very lenient. For example, let's look at the laws and policies for obtaining a concealed weapons permit in Illinois. As a resident of Illinois, you must go to the local sheriff's department in the county where you reside with your driver's license or state ID, along with two references. You will inform the clerk that you are interested in applying for a concealed weapons permit and then proceed to fill out all the necessary forms.
