Topic > Social Bond Theory: My Delinquency Prevention Program

We will address attachment bonds, using activities where parents and children work together to solve problems, demonstrating teamwork on a project that results in work of team. For example, we can give them a puzzle to work on and this will show how well they work together as a team to solve a problem. The belief system will be reinforced by parents who are educated about their real role in their adolescent's life. Corresponding to the belief system, parental commitment bond will be strengthened if parents understand that it has an effect on their children's lives. We want to instill that parents understand that they must be emotionally and psychologically involved in the relationship with their child. For example, we will ask parents questions about their relationship with their child to see how committed they are and how much they know their child. The involvement bond will also teach parents and children that having their child busy, whether playing a sport or joining a club, will deter them from criminal actions.
