When I was very little, I remember my father taking care of me. He never let me run around the house when the glass could break and hurt me. As I grew up, my father started to give me more freedom but he also gave me more responsibility; as if he wanted me to do the housework, not all but some. I knew it wasn't my place to do it, but I help anyway. When I went to college and had to do everything myself, I realized that my dad was good at making me do my laundry, housework, etc., when I was young. Besides, I knew I had to do my chores so I could go out with friends. Even though I had this kind of responsibility at a young age, I can say that it has helped me in life. But because some parents overprotect their children and don't expose themselves to real life, children may not know how to function in society when their parents die. In the story of "A Rose For Emily" by William Faulkner. Mr. Grierson, Emily's father seems to control everything that happens around Emily. For her he was a controlling figure. As the narrator told us the story, I notice in a few lines the things her father did to support her at home. Actions as if it scares guys interested in Emily. He did these things because he wanted her to stay home and take care of the house. In my opinion he would have more control over her actions and would not let her leave the house. From my point of view I think that people who don't go out as often as normal people do, might develop some kind of mental illness due to isolation. It was clearly pointed out by the narrator that Mr. Grierson wanted to keep Emily for his household chores. "Emily's enormous burden of psychological determinism [may... middle of paper... nition of her dignity as the last Grierson." These last two sentences refer to the fact that Miss Emily demanded respect and to always be treated like a lady. She had fallen in love with Homer, she thought he was the man she thought she was missing. When he confessed his secret to her, she felt foolish, humiliated; because he had planes for both of them, because he risked his surname for a worker. Homer then paid the consequences. Emily's father had raised her with a lot of authority, he could have ruined her life by not giving her the opportunity to live a normal life as a woman; but he built a personality, a character and a psychopathic woman. Mr. Grierson was responsible for Emily's behavior, he thought she always commanded respect from others. Homer's actions of using her as a cover for his sexuality were not respectful at all, Emily didn't know any better and poisoned him to death..
