Introduction It is often said that leadership is like beauty; which just like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Therefore, the ultimate appearance of a leader and leadership is constructed from the perception of a multitude of individuals, which makes its meaning very different. Contemporary understandings of leadership describe it as a relevant type of social interaction between groups, whereby the leader is able to influence other people and often enhances excellence. To the extent that leadership is inherently complex in its definition, it has a shared meaning that depends on a particular organization or individual. In most cases, the term leadership has often been used to denote the personality traits, behaviors and roles of individuals within a particular aspect of socialization. Good leadership exudes an understanding of processes, has the ability to positively influence others, occurs within a group context, and involves the achievement of goals or objectives. This article aims to investigate the leadership style of Southwest Airlines CEO Garry Kelly. Garry Kelly Background Forbes magazine (2014), states that Garry Kelly has been CEO of Southwest Airlines since 2004. He has also served as chairman of the board and president of the organization since 2008. According to Forbes magazine, Garry Kelly is joined the organization in 1986 as controller. Previously, he also served in a number of other renowned organizations in various capacities. They include Lincoln National Corporation, Arthur Young & Company, AirTran Holding, Inc. etc. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Texas in addition to being a certified public accountant.
