Removing an organ from a healthy human being, to place it in another person, seems to violate this fundamental value. However, maximizing benefits while minimizing potential harm seems to be the logical path to take when it comes to human life. Removing an organ from an apparently normal person, with his or her consent, to donate it to an individual in need of a vital organ, to save his or her life, is a modern medical miracle. Organ donors can live normal lives, proceeding with their operation, while lucky patients receive the care they need to survive. These extraordinary life-changing transplants are often overlooked because public interest is not focused on the issues of organ donation. In the United States, many people are not registered as organ donors, or even know that there is a serious shortage of these essential organs. The United States must take an initiative that allows for idealistic organ donation
