Topic > Essay on Sociocultural Factors - 1496

Many healthy behaviors are supported by religions or state laws in positive and negative ways. But ethnic and socioeconomic status can also lead to health inequalities. Low levels of education and limited availability of healthy food choices reduce the perceived threat of disease and discourage positive health behaviors. However, the individual's personal differences should not be supervised. Biological and psychological differences interact with sociocultural factors and create human health behaviors. The study of health psychology can help make these connections and play a key role in creating health promotion programs that equitably educate people about the benefits of adopting specific health behaviors and increase awareness of susceptibility. It is hoped that this will lead to a reduction in negative attitudes and barriers towards positive health behaviours, so that more people, from all socio-cultural backgrounds, adopt positive health behaviors around the world
