Race and racial inequality have greatly shaped American history since its beginnings. When addressing the issue of racial inequality, we primarily consider cultural forces and structural forces. Structural forces are classified as indirect because they are mediated by the position of racial groups in the social satisfaction system and by economic and political decisions that have greater effects, since the former are more vulnerable due to their position in the social satisfaction system. Over the past half century there has been an increase in unemployment and a decline in real wages among African Americans. Along with that of all other Americans, the fate of African Americans is inextricably linked and functions as the border itself, influencing modernization globally. The combined emergence of technologies and international competition has swept away the mass production system and destroyed related manufacturing jobs in the United States. However, the implemented technology is creating job opportunities associated with technology and human capital, which in turn reduce physical efforts and natural resources. This generally benefits highly educated skilled workers and reduces the wages of unskilled workers. In accordance with technological change and advancement in information technology such as computers and the Internet, even educated workers are struggling, while low-skilled and less educated workers are going above and beyond. While educated and skilled men and women are in high demand in the global economy, there is a significantly stark difference between men and women. The shift in demand from workers is particularly devastating. The African American was always last on the list or last to be hired and first to quit even before the economic restructuring. Information system implementation is a major structural force in the demand for skilled workers. Unemployment is also another factor, as unemployment gives the recruiter the ability to impose more restrictions on hiring conditions. The global expansion of business has made goods available at a lower price and caused the wages of unskilled workers to decline due to the lower prices of goods produced by foreign countries. According to Lawrence Bobo and his colleagues, African Americans are responsible for their own economic situation and in need of special support from the government “Laissez faire racism” The idea that the federal government has restrictions on improving the standard of living of African Americans, because they are always been humiliated and discriminated against. This is also due to the high crime rate of young blacks in the ghetto neighborhood.
