King Solomon, known as the wisest man in the world, wrote and co-authored a biblical text that provided instruction on wisdom and living according to God. Proverbs, the first book of King Solomon, contains prose and poetry and, of note, was written by a young King Solomon. Proverbs 21:5 reveals, “The plans of the diligent lead to profit, just as haste leads to poverty” (New International Version). Proverbs 16:16-17 states, “How much better it is to gain wisdom than gold, to gain wisdom than silver! The path of upright men avoids evil; he who guards his ways preserves his life.” This essay provides information on the meaning of these verses and its blessing for those who adhere to its principles. Biblical Supplement Wisdom: Proverbs 16:16-17 states, “How much better is it to gain wisdom than gold, to gain insight than silver. The path of upright men avoids evil; he who guards his ways preserves his life.” Wisdom is priceless, immeasurable value. Intuition gives clarity in every situation and guidance in decision making. Living a wise life prevents the righteous from evil and helps preserve their life. Gaining wisdom and intuition gives courage and enthusiasm. Proverbs 4:7 explains: “Wisdom is supreme, so gain wisdom. And whatever else you get, get understanding” (Holman Christian Standard Bible). One looks to the future with expected hope and with faith that God's blessings will meet them wherever He leads in abundance. When you use the lessons of Proverbs as a model you receive wisdom and spiritual growth from the practice. Integrity: Proverbs 21:5 states that “haste leads to poverty” which is the direct result of a lack of integrity. Integrity holds you accountable for actions and requires preparation and… middle of paper… the next Hemmingway; we must all maintain integrity and persevere. Practicing to be a student of integrity helps all of us become students of God. Being an example of integrity means learning to follow God's will. The key is to go to the source. Time Management Proverbs 21:5 first mentions “plans” meaning that you need to make a plan. Through time management, you can define a plan and course of action for each class. Each student's success depends on their study plans and homework completion. Proverbs 21:5 goes on to say that he who plans becomes “the diligent one.” Time management requires two things: a plan and diligence. The benefit of time management is that it allows you to realistically see how much time you have available to engage in your school life. Becoming diligent requires a plan, and sticking to that plan and the allotted time leads to overall profit.
