Topic > Combining Schools in Crawfordsville to Save Money

Population in cities plays a huge role in how the city is built and maintained. When a city has a large population, everything tends to grow. Buildings multiply, houses appear everywhere; churches, police stations, fire stations expand to feed the great demand that the city emits. Cities usually tend to have several schools to provide all children with a proper education; the bigger the city, the more schools. But what happens when a city is small? When a city has a smaller population, there are fewer buildings; the city has fewer houses and all the other necessary guilds and buildings that make up a city become thinner. The city has fewer schools because there are fewer children. Crawfordsville Indiana is a relatively small city with 15,000 residents and 1,800 high school students. Crawfordsville has three high schools that cost a lot of money to run. Combining all three schools into one would save the city a lot of money and would be the best decision overall. The city of Crawfordsville is wasting a lot of money on three schools. Crawfordsville is located in Montgomery County, which is home to Southmont High School, North Montgomery High School, and Crawfordsville High School. Southmont has 500 students; North Montgomery has 500 students; Crawfordsville has approximately 800 students. That's a small number of kids for three high schools, and having three schools means a lot of bus drivers who need to be paid. The bus routes for the drivers are quite short and occupy few children, leaving the buses half empty. If schools were consolidated, these small bus lines would be eliminated. This would allow wider routes for remaining motorists, but the city would have to pay fewer drivers. The city spent money on buildings for half the paper... dents. Merging the schools will allow sports teams to grow to their maximum potential and put Crawfordsville on the map as a high division high school, allowing publicity to see the talent there. Population plays a huge role in every city. With a larger population comes an overall larger city; adds more businesses, churches, schools and emergency services to meet higher demand. Smaller cities have fewer buildings and have less demand to meet. Population determines how many schools and how many students attend that school. Small towns have fewer schools and large cities have more. Running schools costs a lot of money, and when schools are overcrowded relative to the size of the city, the city wastes a lot of money. Crawfordsville has three schools for 1,800 students. Crawfordsville needs to merge schools so the city can save money.
