Specific Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience that solar energy should become the leading form of alternative energy in the United States. Introduction: Warning: let's look ahead fifty years and see what the world is like. Imagine a world at total war with no end in sight. The cause behind this war is simple: oil. Everyone is fighting for the last oil reserves. How can this future be prevented? The answer is solar energy. Claim: Solar energy has the potential to become the United States' largest source of energy and replace the need for more conventional and harmful forms of energy production. Meaning: The United States must face the fact that the world is running out of oil and with the current rise in oil prices, economic and political instability in the regions where the United States gets most of its oil, this country must start looking for alternative energy means to replace oil and end our dependence on foreign powers. Preview: Today I will talk about the potential for solar energy to become this country's main source of energy and the latest research that can make solar energy more efficient and cost-effective. I will also present the environmental benefits that come from using solar energy over other, more harmful forms of energy. Body: I. With the world's oil supply dwindling, the United States must begin looking for new sources of energy, and the most promising is solar energy.A. Scientists predict that the world will run out of oil in the coming decades. According to the article How Fast is the World Running out of Crude Oil by Umut Newbury, accessible from the EBSCO Host database, it is stated that “world oil production… middle of paper… must be adopted universally, and solar energy is the key to unlocking that bright future.
