Topic > Grades shouldn't be a barrier to playing a sport...

Do we want people who spend all their time studying to play for our teams? Students who are good at sports should not be held back from playing because of their grades. First of all, every person is born with different skills. Some people are amazing at academic subjects, but others excel at sports. Secondly, sports teach many very useful skills. Students learn how to work with a team. Third, students don't learn when they can't play because of their grades. Athletic students with bad grades tend to cheat just to get good grades. Overall, school games should be open to all students who want to play. Every person is born with a talent that manifests itself later in life. Some people are very good at academic subjects like math or science. The subjects taught in class come easily to them and they get good grades. For people like these, our schools organize spelling bees, math competitions and many other competitions. Other people are very good at sports. This is their talent and something they love to do. Games are made for people like this. They play sports because they love them. The same goes with tools. Not all people can play an instrument. For people who play instruments there are talent shows and competitions. Third, people who play sports also have a different set of abilities. For example, in basketball my cousin Max is good at shooting but Oles is a good defender. All of this goes to show that people have different skills and talents and not everyone can be an honor roll student. The second thing I have to say is that students learn many things in sports that teachers try to teach in the classroom. In sports, students learn to work with a team. They learn to rely on the efforts of other teammates... middle of paper... not to let athletes get good grades to participate in games. First, people are good at different subjects and activities. Some people are good at math, others run fast and play sports. Secondly, sports teaches many important life skills. Students learn to make friends and be responsible. Finally, students are more capable of cheating when under pressure to get good grades. They stop worrying about learning but focus on getting a higher grade. Overall, there should not be a rule that limits students' rights to play their favorite sports. Works Cited Kolker, Robert. "New York Magazine". NYMag.com. Np, 24 September 2012.Web.
