The environment is a topic of conversation at all levels of nations, governments, institutions and private homes. Population growth and globalization encourage the expansion of industries that cause chemical and particle pollutants in the planet's air and water. Energy needs and demands to support the growth of industries around the world have provided opportunities for the expansion of nuclear power plants and coal-fired power plants. With every plant that is opened for operation, pollution also increases for the environment. Pollutants present in water and air have had a negative effect on the health of citizens and the ecosystem. The research will focus on industrial pollution and its effects on water supplies, which in turn impact public health and the environment. Population and demand growth throughout the industrialized and developed world has, over the years, provided the ability for industries to operate without supervision. Before the concern or attention of society and government, industries disposed of industrial pollutants and toxic materials into waterways and oceans. Over the centuries, the manufacturing process used to dispose of large amounts of waste has been unconventional. Manufacturing disposal is a source of water pollution, and waste from many industrial plants is washed away and absorbed into the water system, which in turn ends up in rivers, lakes and oceans. If we pay attention to the national phenomenon, we have a list of companies that engage in environmental crimes. The main industries prosecuted by the Department of Justice are petrochemical, pharmaceutical and automotive. (Simon 2000) Chemical production generates tons of toxic waste and... middle of paper... thanks to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Authorization Program. (EPA 2013) Who will save the world depends on the cooperation of everyone on the planet. Population and industrial growth are unlikely to stop; however, it is in the public's interest globally to be aware of global pollution. Throughout history there have been people who cared and took action, these are the people who pushed for the regulations we have today. As the climate changes around the world, the time has come for us – humans, industries and governments to improve and enforce regulations. Consumers have the power to demand better ways of managing industrial waste from companies. Waste management strategies must be strictly applied and followed by industries around the world. Developing clean habits and techniques to reduce pollution must be a global effort.
