They said it mattered "Rather than love, money, fame, give me the truth." - Thoreau For Thoreau, the progress of life stopped. It seems that people have confused progress with materialism-driven imprisonment. For Krakaeur, people are indifferent in pursuing the sublime in nature. For Christopher McCandles, the world around him is forgetting the purpose of life. People are blind to nature. In the eyes of these men the world is a victim of commercial captivity. People live to achieve statuses that exist only because man created them. Fame, money and monotonous relationships do not exist in nature; they are the pursuit of soulless fundamentalism. The truth is that people pursue meaningless goals and don't want to hear or know how stupid they are. Once exposed, the reality is so disturbing that it seems wrong. However, being free from falsehood in life is essentially the singularity that people realize: if there is no truth in love, then it is false, if there is no truth in money, then it has no value , if there is no truth in money, then it is useless. fame is then undeserved. Without truth everything is a futile search for a meaningless glass ceiling. Knowing the truth pushes people to understand reality and have a meaningful purpose in life. However, it is only a small part of the world that has the courage to face the obscene truth of life. These few do not accept what they are told, they long to know what is beyond every wall, beyond every mountain and beyond every ocean. They want their reality to be their wild and true experiences in nature. Chris went out into the world in search of the truth. Instead of being told or given what he was looking for, he wanted to find the answers to his own questions. For example, Chris wanted an answer on his… medium of paper… this shows how for hundreds of years man has been faced with the same dilemma of facing the truth in reality. The man-made society has changed, but there have always been people who craved the truth and wanted to show others the truth of reality. It's amazing to think that people ignore the truth because they don't want to know how short life is, but it's so beautiful to think that when a person takes a step back they can see that the same fear has spanned hundreds of years. People accept what they want and reject what they don't like, and their ignorance has caused them to not realize that they are no different from the people of 1000 years ago. It's so amazing that a story can still be TRUE thousands of years later, but it makes sense because people will always find that the truth is the disturbing reality that forces people to be aware of their place in society..
