Topic > Face to face with the elderly - 660

During the work experience, I had started talking face to face with the elderly in a bus, which was held in the city center to attract the elderly to approach us and do questions or if they didn't approach, then we would approach them. Next we asked if they knew about the company 'Otley Action for Older People' and if not, we talked about it and what the company does for older people. The topic was very sensitive, so I had to make sure I didn't speak in a way that would make me uncomfortable, such as "are you being abused?". After communicating with them I had to take them to the bus which was for the event and sat down, to make me feel comfortable I had to ask them if they wanted some orange juice, tea or coffee. This had made them feel a little comfortable talking to me. I therefore had to speak in a way that did not make them feel threatened because the purpose of this activity was to ask if they knew people who suffer physical or emotional abuse, because this is a sensitive topic I had to make sure I was relaxed and had an open posture to show them that I'm really interested in their issue, this was an activity I had to do to get people involved in what Otley action for older people and one of the information I had give and ask for was abuse. . When I was talking to Sue, one of the elders I had approached, I realized that she didn't need any information about any of the topics I was telling her, Sue needed information about what events were taking place this year. Then I had to go get the flyer and to show her that I didn't care that she needed more information I kept smiling and listening carefully to what Sue was asking me. The way I had shown confidentiality when filling out a form to join the Otley Action for Older People I had to make sure I had no personal information and the reason is because it is for online office use only.
